Stranger Things season 4

The fourth season of the American science fiction horror drama television series Stranger Things, titled Stranger Things 4, was released worldwide exclusively via Netflix's streaming service in two volumes, with the first set released May 27, 2022, and the second to be released five weeks later on July 1, 2022.

Stranger Things 3 has left some big questions unanswered. Luckily for fans, a fourth season is underway and already in production. Netflix has already released a teaser for it, too. The details remain slim for now, but we've gathered everything we know about Stranger Things 4 so far.

"With nine scripts, over 800 pages, almost two years of filming, thousands of visual effects shots, and a runtime nearly twice the length of any previous season, Stranger Things 4 was the most challenging season yet, but also the most rewarding one," series creators Matt and Ross Duffer wrote in an open letter to fans. "Everyone involved is incredibly proud of the results, and we can't wait to share it with you."

The Duffer Brothers contend they didn't originally plan for Season 4 to be so long, but once they started writing they realized they needed to ask Netflix for an additional episode to tell the full story. Unsurprisingly, Netflix agreed and expanded the order from eight episodes to nine.
