Poland- A New Angle In Russia -Ukraine War

Global tension rises as missile lands in Poland

Since 1996, first as a partner and as of 1999, a full member of NATO, Poland has taken part in 14 missions and Allied operations.

Poland has said that a missile strike that killed two people in its territory close to the border with Ukraine was “not an intentional attack”, and was likely to have come from Ukrainian air defence systems, narrowly averting a geopolitical crisis that could have led to a direct conflict between the West and Russia.

With a budget of over US$14 billion in 2022, Poland is ranked 20th in the world in terms of military expenditures and is among the nine NATO member states that have maintained their military spending above the required 2% of annual GDP.

Poland is known for being the home of delicious pierogi, former pope John Paul II, and

Europe's most ancient old-growth forest. It is also a country rich in unique history and stunning geography, from the Tatra mountains to the Baltic Sea.

Since then, the U.S. presence in Europe has grown by about one quarter. Germany now hosts nearly 40,000 American forces. About 10,000 are now in Poland.

Warsaw is the capital and largest city of Poland. It is located on the Vistula River, in east-central Poland, roughly 260 kilometres from the Baltic Sea and 300 kilometres from the Carpathian Mountains.
Before 1952, during the 1st World War in 1916, when Warsaw was changing hands from the Russians to the Germans, the German declared Warsaw as the capital of Poland, but since this is was not a formal Polish source, it does not count. Warsaw was re-declared the capital of Poland in the 1997 Constitution of Poland

US Midterm ELECTIONS -2022/ Выборы в США -2022[8 November]

 Headlines Today

"Republican on cusp of gaining US House majority."

On the cusp of touching the magic number of 218 that would give the Republicans a majority in the House of Representatives, party law maker elected Congressman Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday for the powerfull post of Speaker in the next congress beginning January.

McCarthy, who is currently the House Minority leader, would have to win a majority of the 435 members of the house next year before being formally elected as it's Speaker. The House Speaker is the second in line of political succession after the President and the vice President.

As of Tuesday night , Republican had either won or taken decisive leads in 217 Congressional districts against 206 won by the Democratic party.Tuesday afternoon,House Republicans voted 188-31 to formally nominate McCarthy to serve as the Speaker in the next Congress. He defeated congressman Andy Biggs ,Former House Freedom Caucus chairman."We are going to have the ability to change America," McCarthy said, upbeat as he entered the private meeting. He noted backing from right -flank Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Rep.jim Jordan of Ohio as part of his "vast support."

A total of 538 electors form the Electoral College. Each elector casts one vote following the general election. The candidate who gets 270 votes or more wins. The newly elected President and Vice President are then inaugurated on January 20th.

A Presidential candidate must be: A natural born citizen (U.S. citizen from birth) At least 35 years old and. A U.S. resident (permanently lives in the U.S.) for at least 14 years.

The most common method used in U.S. elections is the first-past-the-post system, where the highest-polling candidate wins the election. Under this system, a candidate only requires a plurality of votes to win, rather than an outright majority.

Today, citizens over the age of 18 cannot be denied the right to vote on the basis of race, religion, sex, disability, or sexual orientation. In every state except North Dakota, citizens must register to vote, and laws regarding the registration process vary by State

Presidential elections: Elections for the U.S. President are held every four years, coinciding with those for all 435 seats in the House of Representatives, and 33 or 34 of the 100 seats in the Senate. Midterm elections: They occur two years after each presidential election.

The 2022 United States elections are an ongoing set of elections that are primarily held on November 8, 2022. During this midterm election year, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives, and 35 of the 100 seats in the Senate will be contested.

Democrates  38

Republicans  37

Seats required to win  51

Americans are voting this Tuesday and the outcome of their vote will reconfigure both chambers of Congress: the House of Representatives and the Senate. While Joe Biden will remain president, the essential question is which party will have control of the chambers? If the Democrats lose one or both institutions, it will be difficult for the Biden administration to carry on with its legislative agenda in the two remaining years of the term. Here are the latest projections for the House and Senate.

Record voting in US mid -term polls

The united states witnessed an unprecedented early voting for the mid-terms on Tuesday as 41 million voters turned up to cast their vote, a million more than the 2018 mid terms, as both President Joe Biden and his predecessor  Donald Trump fired up the enthusiasm of the electorate to exercise their franchise in one of the most crucial ballots that has on the agenda gun control, crime, violence, abortion Inflation and high prices and threats to democracy.

More Americans have gone to the polling stations during the early voting period than in the last mid -term elections, media reports says.

The United States Election Project said, 40,114,753 early votes have been cast across the country as of Tuesday afternoon including 18,325,,513 in -person votes and 21,789,241 that had been sent in. In 2018,about 39.1 million people voted early, reports say.

'Washington post" quoted Election Project founder Michael McDonald from the University of Florida saying that this is an ongoing trend due to greater availablity of early voting"We have been on an upward trajectory of early voting from election to election, and that is because states are offering early voting more frequently or more expansively. Besides, there is very high voter enthusiasm cconsidering the issues at stake this time for the midterms. "-McDonald said

While the Republican Party is still likely to take over the House of Representatives (lower chamber), the Democrats put up a strong defence. Early results and predictions have shown that they outperformed expectations and won in a number of states, such as Pennsylvania, where Democrat John Fettermen defeated Republican candidate Mehmet Oz. Anger among the electorate over the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the nationwide right to abortion helped the Democrats curb their losses, the Associate Press reported.

Trump is taking a big share of the blame for the failure of the republican Party to capitalise on the highest inflation figures in 40 years, Americans rising murder rate and what Republicans perceive as Joe Biden's under - performance as President.

Baltic - Alanya [Балтика – Алания]

Alanya (/əˈlɑːnjə/ ( listen); Turkish pronunciation: [aˈɫanja]), formerly Alaiye, is a beach resort city and a district of Antalya Province on the southern coast of Turkey, in the country's Mediterranean Region, 133 kilometres (83 mi) east of the city of Antalya.

Both Alanya and Antalya offer something different, so it's not as easy as one is better than the other. If you prefer a quiet vacation in an all-inclusive resort by the beach, Alanya. If you prefer history and culture, then Antalya

Alanya is best known for its beaches. The sandy strips in town itself, and strung along the surrounding coast, are all about laid-back resort vacations and are usually packed out by a clientele of northern Europeans from June through August. There's more to Alanya than its shore though.

The majority of Turkey is in Asia. There is only a very small part above Istanbul that is situated in Europe. For holiday insurance purposes however, Turkey is considered part of Europe.

The distance between Istanbul and Alanya is 563 km. The road distance is 801.1 km. How do I travel from Istanbul to Alanya without a car? The best way to get from Istanbul to Alanya without a car is to train and bus which takes 11h 14m and costs 150 ₺ - 470 ₺.

Grab your chance to visit the infamous Antalya and have some fun in the bustling, cosmopolitan atmosphere of the city. Are you still searching for an answer? Yes, Alanya is worth visiting and the best way to understand this is to simply book your holidays there!

Alanya's vibrant nightlife is complemented by a boulevard near the harbour that's dedicated to bars and clubs, aptly named Bar Street. It's where most tourists and locals go if they're looking for a place to dance and drink the night away.
Turkiye experiences extreme climates and can thus be extremely cold during winters and can got excessively hot during peak summers. Thus, end of summer, spring and Autumn have the best climate to visit Turkey that allow you to freely roam without the weather becoming a hurdle

Poetic Devices- English Class 10th NCERT

Poetic devices are a form of literary device used in poetry. Poems are created out of poetic devices composite of: structural, grammatical, rhythmic, metrical, verbal, and visual elements. They are essential tools that a poet uses to create rhythm, enhance a poem's meaning, or intensify a mood or feeling.

How do you identify a literary device in a poem? A literary device can be identified by its effect on meaning, form, or sound in a poem. For example, alliteration can be heard as a repetition of beginning consonant sounds. An allusion to another work of literature is also an easy device to discover in many cases.

Rhymed words conventionally share all sounds following the word's last stressed syllable. Rhyme is one of the first poetic devices that we become familiar with but it can be a tricky poetic device to work with. Matching content to a rhyming pattern takes a lot of skill

  • [1] Assimilation is one of the ways of dealing with the tribal problems.
  • [2] According to this solution advocated by the social reformers and voluntary organizations, assisting and encouraging the tribals to assimilate them with the mainstream of national life, can alone permanently solve the tribal problems.
  • Cause Of changes
  • Several factors as identified by Raha and Dubash Roy which have brought about changes in the tribal culture are: measures undertaken by the government, communication facilities, spread of education, process of urbanisation, occupational mobility, community development projects, frequent contacts with the neighbouring urban people.
  • Strict laws should be implemented to abolish transfer or sale of tribal land to non-tribal people. The processes of development should not take place at the cost of tribal alienation. Government could provide financial assistance to tribal people.                                                The study points to the lack of access to productive income-earning assets, non-utilization of available resources, lack of education and equal opportunities, all serving as the main causes of poverty among Scheduled Tribes in India.

Educating boys and girls together has always been an important and stressful issue. Many parents believe that the educational process can be more effective if the classes are divided according to the gender of the students. Although same-sex schools are considered too conservative and strict in today’s times. Nevertheless, there are still supporters of this manner of education. Some parents are not in favor of a co-educational system as they feel that the presence of the opposite gender distracts the attention of students and prevents them from concentrating on studies.

On the other hand, supporters of co-education feel that as boys and girls are different, it is a valuable experience for both genders to communicate with each other. Moreover, the earlier boys and girls begin to communicate, the sooner they acquire social skills, which are crucial to communicating freely in the world. Further, if there are girls in the class, boys may well possibly try to behave better in order not to lose face in front of the girls.                                        Apart from all that has been mentioned above, educating boys and girls together helps them understand and mutually respect each other from an early stage in life. This can possibly help in building a generation that doesn’t suffer from gender bias and is open to a healthy competition even between the two genders.                                                                                          Q[a] What many parents believe?                                                                                                               Q[b] what is valuable experience for both boys and girls?                                                                    Q[c] why boys behave better in coeducation ?                                                                                      Q[d] How coeducation is helpful for both boys and girls?                                                                     Q[e] Give Suitable title of the passage?

QUESTION [1] READ THE PASSAGE GIVEN  AND ANSWER THE QUESTIONS GIVEN BELOW

Cataract is the major cause of blindness, which is also caused by a damage to the cornea. It occurs more often in old age. As one starts growing old, the lens of the eye hardens, loses its transparency and becomes opaque. It obstructs the light rays from entering the eye.

The onset of cataract blurs the vision. Sometimes, the cataract patient sees multiple images instead of a single object image. Because of the gradual development of cataract, the afflicted person loses his/her vision and the world becomes dark to him/her.

The development of cataract is a complex process. However, the following factors can be attributed to its formation. Cataract generally develops in old age but sometimes, children are born with cataract because of hereditary defect. Eye injuries too, can cause cataracts.

People exposed to sun rays for longer periods develop cataract earlier than others. Researchers opine that the smoke inhaled while smoking carries substances internally damaging the eyes.

Ultraviolet radiation, invisible to the human eye, is linked to skin cancer. The victim loses vision and the world becomes dark to him.

    ANSWER ANY FOUR

    (a) What is the major cause of blindness?

    (b) Why does the lens of the eye become opaque in old age ?

    (C) How does cataract affect its victim ultimately ?

    (d) How does one detect cataract in early stages ?

    (e) Which type of cancer is caused by ultraviolet radiation ?

QUESTION 2 READ THE PASSAGE AND GIVE ANSWER [ANY FOUR]

. Frankness may be among the most overrated of virtues! And here’s why. Because unrestricted and unfiltered frankness is a recipe for breaking relationships, even the closest ones. Such frankness is understandable, acceptable and even ‘cute’ only in children under the age of five.. Thinking before one speaks and using restraint are hallmarks of growing maturity and preparation for life. Learning to put a filter between thought and spoken word (and, even more importantly, written word) is an important life skill. Think is a popular acronym for Trúe, Helpful, Inspiring, Necessary and Kind. This would do wonderfully well as a filter in our minds.

. It is good to speak what’s true, but only along with the other attributes in the acronym, particularly the last one, kindness. In the righteous glow of speaking what we see as the truth, we often forget to be kind. We blurt out ‘truths’ even when it is totally unhelpful and unnecessary to do so, let alone inspiring! Too often, such truth–telling is destructive rather than noble. Only those who do not care about the consequences can afford the luxury of ‘speaking their minds’ whenever and wherever they please. When relationships are at stake, it is essential to choose the time, place and words appropriately when imparting unpleasant truths. And even then, only when absolutely necessary and with the utmost kindness                 ANY FOUR].(a) How much of frankness is acceptable?                                                                                             [b] Which is Overrated virtue?                                                                                                                   [c] Where we have to put filters?                                                                                                               [d]  What we forget when we speak truth?                                                                                              [e] What are the things we should care while speaking unpleasant truth?
