Golden Effort By differently Abled(English )

Shooter Avani  Lekhara scripted history on monday as she became the first indian woman to win a gold medal at the paralympics, firing her way to the top of the podium in the R-2 women's 10m Air Rifle standing SH1 event in Tokyo Paralympics 2021.                              The 19 year old from jaipur who sustained spinal cord injuries in car accident in 2012,finished with world record equalling total of 249.6,which is also a new Paralympic record.                              She is only the fourth  indian athlete to win a paralympics gold after swimmer Murlikant Petkar(1972),Javelin thrower Devendra jhajharia (2004 and  2016) and high jumper Mariyappan Thangavelu(2016).      Hers is also the first shooting medal that india has logged in the showpiece competition.                   Previously ranked fifth  in the women's 10 m air rifle standing, Tokyo is Lakhara's maiden appearance at the paralympic games.       Lakhara has a chance to win more medals as she will be competing in three other events.        A law student in northern state of Rajasthan, she was paralysed below her waist in 2012 after a major car accident. She was 11 at that time. It was her father who encouraged her to take up sports. The 19 year old is also trained in archery, though shooting turned out to her ultimate calling. A para athlete in his village initiated him to the sport in 2018.It was tough for him initially battled pain and loss of blood because of his prosthetic leg. But, Antill never quite and continued his dream of reaching to the top.
