World senior citizen day 2022: Significance, history, and value

WORLD SENIOR CITIZEN'S DAY 2022: Each year, August 21 is celebrated as World Senior Citizens' Day. It is also known as National Senior Citizens' Day in the United States (US). The day is observed with the intent to highlight the contributions of elderly people in human society and honour them.

They provide transportation or run errands for others. They provide emotional support and friendship, like the senior who looks in on a house-bound friend to make sure that everything is alright and stays for a chat. Seniors provide care for spouses or friends. The day has its origin on August 19, 1988, when US President Ronald Reagan declared Senior Citizen's Day on August 21 throughout the country. Reagan recognised the achievements made by the older generation in his nation, which resulted in declaring every third Sunday of August as National Senior Citizen's Day.
The theme for World Senior Citizen Day 2021 was "Pandemic: Do they change how we address age and aging?" This theme was decided due to the ongoing pandemic, due to which many people had to live in their homes for a long time.
Advantages to society of older persons include their lower criminal activity, greater political participation, increasing voluntary organization participation, work abilities, and visual perception abilities.
Spend time with your parents and grandparents. Make them feel that they are special by cooking delicacies for them. Little gestures can bring a smile to their face. Help them complete their chores.
