Amanda
Summary
The poem expresses the state of a little girls mind who is constantly instructed about do's and don't by her mother.The girl named Amanda and her mother who is irritating her for mistakes.Her mother used to give instructions not to hunch her shoulders and to sit up straight. Her mother also feels that she is sitting in a very lethargic manner .To this, Amanda imagines herself as a mermaid swimming freely and joyously in the light green sea.She wants to live a calm and relaxing life in the beautiful green sea.Further her mother drags Amanda out of her dreams by asking whether she cleans her room and shoes or not.
Amanda has another daydream in which she imagines herself as a orphan wandering freely,barefoot in a golden silence and uninterrupted freedom.She utters that she would have enjoyed her freedom then,by making the pattern of her bare feet on the sand.She would live a peaceful life.Her mother ' s nagging complaints break her day dream.The mother forbade Amanda not to eat chocolates because of her acne and pimples .She also rebukes her for not looking at her while she is talking to her.

Animal(Poem)
Summary, 
In the poem animals,the poet has described his will to become an animal because he thinks animals are better than human being .Human beings are greedy and full of jealousy against each other .But animals are calm and self contained.The animals are happy with what they have .They never complain about miseries and sorrows .On the 0ther hand human beings complain about their miseries .They give importance to the rich and strong people,stay restless because of their wrong doings and run behind the luxurious things of this world .Whereas animals are honest about their relations and don't give importance to a particular class.They live a life which is full of honesty and less of greed and jealousy.
Analysis of Poem " Animals "
Rhyme scheme: There is no rhyme scheme. It is written in Free verse.
Stanza (1)
"I think I could turn and live with animals ,they are
So placid and self contained
I stand and look at them long and long.
Explanation
" The poet says that he stands and looks for hours at the animals because he also wants to live with them.He says they are always at peace unlike humans because they stay Happy with whatever they have .They never compare their lives with others and they do not have the constant greed to have every worldly things more than others.So the poet too wants to become an animal just like them.
Poetical Device

Explanation
The poet has criticised how humans brag about everything that happens in their life.He says the animals are better than the humans because however much problems the animals may be in,they never choose to whine and tell others about their conditions..They do not stay away till late night regretting the sins they have committed.Even if they do something good,they do not choose to brag about it.They stay true to themselves and perform their duty to God.The poet further says that the animals are never dissatisfied and also they don't go crazy after the worldly things.

Explanation :One more quality that the animals possess is that they do not believe in bowing down to each other even if some one is very older to them .They believe no matter what the age of an individual is ,they are equal.They don't care about their status in society and just believe in living in the moment happily.Here the poet has criticised how humans  kneel to each other based on their age and also how they do everything in their life thinking about the opinion of the society. The poet says he admires animals because they show their  true feelings to everyone. The poet says that it seems as if the animals have acquired all the good qualities which were once possessed by humans.The humans must have carelessly dropped kindness, generosity, humbleness and honestly that the animals have picked up now.

The Tale Of Custard the Dragon
The tale of custard the dragon is a ballad. It is a humorous poem about a cowardly dragon named Custard. Custard is a pet of Belinda, a little girl who lives in a little house with her pets. She had a black  kitten named ink, a grey mouse named blink, a yellow dog mustard and a cowardly dragon custard. The poet say say that all of them are very brave except the dragon. Others were described as brave  and are compared with animals like bear, tiger or lion but the dragon is very timid. He always demand a safe place for himself.. All the other characters  make fun of him.But one night they are surprised by the entry of a pirate in the house. All of them get frightened' and start hiding here and there.. But to every one's surprise, the dragon not only tackles him but eats him up, they realise that they used to make fun of the dragon because of his  being timid. So all of them suddenly start saying that they are more brave and could have handled the situation in a much better way. Here the poet has tried to say that sometimes a timid person is the actual hero in the toughest situation of life.
Stanza (1)
"Belinda lived in a little white house.
With a little black kitten and a little grey mouse,
And a little yellow dog and a little red wagon,
And a realio, trulio, little pet dragon."

Explanation
The poet says that once there was a little girl named Belinda. She lived with some creatures who were her pets. They were a black a black kitten, a grey mouse, a yellow dog, a little red wa wagon and a creature that the poet say was really a truly a dragon.
