Earth Hour 2022

Earth Hour 2022 was at 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm on

Saturday
26 March
All times are in India Standard Time.
The theme of this year's Earth Hour is 'Shape Our Future'. It is a pivotal year for everyone to shape the world for the future generations by raising awareness about the damages to climate that are impacting our world today.
The event is held annually, encouraging individuals, communities, and businesses to turn off non-essential electric lights, for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. on a specific day towards the end of March, as a symbol of commitment to the planet..
Started in India in 2009, Earth Hour, in its very first year, garnered the support of people across 58 cities in the country. Over the years, the campaign has seen massive participation from all over society.
All Of
the planets, except for Earth, were named after Greek and Roman gods and godesses. The name Earth is an English/German name which simply means the ground. It comes from the Old English words 'eor(th)e' and 'ertha'. In German it is 'erde'..
When the solar system settled into its current layout about 4.5 billion years ago, Earth formed when gravity pulled swirling gas and dust in to become the third planet from the Sun. Like its fellow terrestrial planets, Earth has a central core, a rocky mantle, and a solid crust.
Eaeth  Hour is an annual environmental campaign that brings attention to the effects of climate change by asking people to switch off lights at homes and businesses for an hour at 8.30 pm (20:30), local time, usually on the last Saturday of March.
Today  we know from radiometric dating that Earth is about 4.5 billion years old. Had naturalists in the 1700s and 1800s known Earth's true age, early ideas about evolution might have been taken more seriously.
Most experts agree that all life today evolved by common descent from a single primitive lifeform. It is not known how this early life form evolved, but scientists think it was a natural process which happened about 3,900 million years ago.
10 Ways to Honor Earth Day Every Day
  1. Follow the 3 R's. Look for ways you can Reduce, Reuse and Recycle throughout your home. ...
  2. Conserve energy at home. ...
  3. Reduce paper waste and junk mail. ...
  4. Recycle your electronics. ...
  5. Give your car a break. ...
  6. Turn off the tap. ...
  7. Replace your bulbs. ...
  8. Bring your own bags to the store.                                                                                   Earth Day has made positive impacts on the environment globally, but it can also play a significant role on local level. Young children, in particular, may not realize that there are many ways they can participate in protecting the Earth and make it a safer place.                                                                                                                 Just like on the first Earth Day, 50 years ago, it is time to demonstrate solidarity, take action and send a clear message to world leaders to act on climate change, halt biodiversity and habitat loss, and make certain environmental protection is a fundamental foundation of building back better.                                                             Not caring for our environment translates to pollution and degradation of the environment. If for instance, we pollute the sources of clean water, it means that we will have less clean water for consumption. Water is a necessary element of life and, there is no life without it
