Hanuman Jayanti is going to be celebrated in india on 16th of April. On this propitious day, Lord Hanuman was born. According to the Hindu calendar, Hanuman Jayanti observed on 15th day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Chaitra, on Purnima Tithi (Full Moon)..
Who is Hanuman? Part human-part monkey, Hanuman is a central character in the Hindu epic Ramayana. He is generally depicted as a man with the face of a monkey and a long tail. Often described as the "son of Pawan", the Hindu god for wind, Hanuman is known for his extraordinary daring feats, strength and loyalty.
Indra, the king of the gods, struck Hanuman with a thunderbolt on the jaw (hanu), thus inspiring the name. When Hanuman continued to misbehave, powerful sages cursed him to forget his magic powers, such as the ability to fly or to become infinitely large, until he was reminded of them.
